Gorewada Forest, surrounding Gorewada Lake in Nagpur, is a protected dry deciduous scrub forest, serving as a vital drinking water source for the city. A 29km peripheral wall was constructed in 2011 by FDCM to safeguard this land, leading to its natural restoration.
This forest boasts a diverse range of biodiversity, including rare creatures like Jungle Cats, Leopards, Chitals, Sambars, Nilgai, Wild Boars, Langurs, and Monkeys. It is also home to over 200 species of birds, both resident and migratory, attracting birdwatchers with its abundant raptors and waterfowls. Visitors now have the opportunity to enjoy a guided Gorewada Jungle Safari, where they can explore the forest in their own vehicles under the guidance of knowledgeable guides.
Discover the enigmatic Junapani Stone Circles, an ancient megalithic marvel nestled within the lush jungle safari near Nagpur. With approximately 300 stone circles scattered around, these prehistoric structures unveil a captivating glimpse into the past. Excavated in 1879, they revealed a treasure trove of iron artifacts, including daggers, axes, rings, bracelets, and more, hinting at advanced technological prowess of the era.

A 14-meter diameter burial site with intact human skeletons and various objects is found, indicating an east-west burial orientation.
Another burial site located five meters away reveals an individual buried with a unique iron dagger with a copper hilt, showcasing advanced metal riveting technology.
A degraded skeleton, broken pots, and semi-precious stone beads are discovered in close proximity.
Experts analyze the findings and raise questions about the possibility of warfare, familial relations among the deceased, and the significance of the discovered artifacts.
Two additional burial sites are discovered, one with fractional remains and iron and copper objects, and the other containing scattered bones and animal skeletons.
Plans are made to enclose the burial sites within a glass structure with solar-based air conditioning to ensure optimal preservation.
